Episode 28 – Allowance

“–What? I’m not transferring to another school?”

After that, I had been replying to my classmates and was called to Yomi-san’s room to talk, and I couldn’t help but ask her what she said.

“Yes.”

“No, what do you mean by ‘yes’? ……! What was that all about then?”

I couldn’t help but complain when Yomi-san nodded without seeming to be sorry.

Becoming her personal bodyguard was a condition of her granting me what I wanted, and to do that I had to go to Yomi-san’s place.

So I thought everything had been completed, including the transfer to a new school, but now it’s all been wiped clean. What does that mean?

“There was no need. That’s all I’m saying.”

“What the heck is going on ……?”

“You’ll find out soon enough. –Oh, by the way, your father left a message for you.”

“A message ……?”

“Yeah, he said he wanted you to come home tomorrow to see someone important.”

When Yomi-san told me about Dad’s message, it immediately hit me.

He had said before that he was going to remarry, which meant that the time had finally come.

“I understood. But then again, it came out of nowhere. ……”

“You’ve been cooped up for a month, so I guess he has been waiting for you.”

“I see… but can you please stop saying that I’ve been cooped up?”

“But it’s true.”

“I was locked in, I think.”

“Not much different.”

No, I don’t think so at all.

Being cooped up is like being a recluse, isn’t it?

If my father were to hear about it, he’d beat the shit out of me.

“We’re moving tomorrow morning, so get ready. You won’t be coming back here, so don’t forget anything.”

“Huh….., So what are you really going to do about the escort?”

I had almost forgotten because of the message from Dad, but I hurriedly asked about the matter of the escort, which was about to be mooted.

Then Yomi-san looked very annoyed.

She looked as if she was trying to tell me not to remember because it was too much trouble.

She doesn’t usually show this kind of emotion on her face, so I could tell right away that she was doing this on purpose.

Apparently, it was inconvenient for Yomi-san for it to be mentioned, and she wanted me to stop talking about it.

“–Young lady, don’t you think it would be better if you gave a proper explanation ……?”

As if she couldn’t bear to watch our exchange, the maid, who had been keeping quiet and watching what was going on, interrupted us.

She seemed to know what was going on.

“Don’t wanna.”

But Yomi-san doesn’t seem to be willing to talk.

This makes me feel like there’s something terrible hidden in there.

“Y…Young lady……?

“………….”

The maid was puzzled by Yomi-san’s reaction, but Yomi-san gave her a blank stare

So the maid couldn’t say anything.

But, hmm.

What is she really hiding, this person ……?

“Um, Yomi-san ……?”

“You don’t have to worry about it. It’s okay, I’ll make sure you keep your word.”

Yeah, is it just me, or does that not sound okay at all?

How can I keep my promise in this situation?

No way, is Yomi-san going to come there?

–No, she can’t.

She’s going to a school for rich people, and it’s a great place to connect with other rich people of her generation.

And she runs several companies in Tokyo.

There was no way she could come here.

Even Yomi-san’s father would never agree to this.

So, what is Yomi-san really thinking?

Her mind is so different from mine that there are many things I can’t read.

…… In the end, no matter how much I think about it, I don’t know the answer when it comes to this.

It’s probably best not to explore anymore.

“Okay, I’ll wait for your instructions.”

“Hmm, good boy.”

“Am I a child for you? ……”

I couldn’t help but laugh at Yomi-san, who treated me like a child even though we were the same age.

The trouble with this person is that she sometimes treats me like a child.

In terms of height and appearance, Yomi-san would look more like a child than me.

“What? If you have something to say, you can say it, okay?”

“I mean, you’re more of a child.”

“That may be the last thing you ever say to me.”

“It is nothing. ……”

When Yomi-san gave me a very lovely smile, I got a tremendous chill and hurriedly shut my mouth.

I was right, I forgot that this person’s ‘you can say ‘ was preceded by the words ‘if you are prepared’.

If you say something bad, you don’t know what you’re going to get.

“…………”

As I shivered at Yomi-san’s smile, the maid put her hand on my shoulder with a pitying expression.

Yeah, it seems that I’m being treated pretty badly in her eyes as well.

“Don’t talk about foolish things, you have an early day tomorrow. You should go to bed early.”

That’s all Yomi-san said before laying down on the bed defenselessly.

Apparently, she already wanted to sleep.

This randomness is still the same.

She told me once that my stubbornness has not changed even after a year, but her free spirit has not changed either.

I’ll probably be pushed around by this person from now on.

I don’t know how I’m going to face my classmates now that I’ve been told I’m not transferring schools, and tomorrow I have to meet my dad’s second marriage partner. So I’m starting to feel like holding my head in my hands.

“…… I’ll give you this.”

As I was laughing to myself about what was to come, Yomi-san got up from the bed and handed me an envelope.

“What’s this?

“Allowance.”

“………….”

When I looked at the contents, I saw that there was indeed money in it.

However, there were ten 10,000 yen bills in it, which was not pocket money by any stretch of the imagination.

I quickly handed the envelope to the maid and left the room.

–No, Right.

There’s no way I can accept such a large sum of money.

TN: So, yeah.. the personal body guard thing became a moot point.

  2. Spitballing here.
The woman the dad is going to marry is the idol girls mother. So now they’re gonna be siblings which means that Yomi doesn’t have to worry about MC being taken away from her. Which means that the entire plan she had enacted to get him away and closer to her was now meaningless. Thus the easier solution is to let him go back to his daily life and to transfer into his school. Thus allowing her to get closer to him without him feeling trapped and with no options.

    1. A logical conclusion, but I can’t fully agree. The first theory holds merit, but the following about her not needing to worry about the idol girl “taking him away” doesn’t really hold merit since….. Ya know, japan.
